COMMAND MEDICAL PRODUCTS COMPLETES MICRO MED TRANSITION
ORMOND BEACH, Fla.
(February 16, 2001) - Command Medical Products, Inc. announced today the
completion of transition plans following their October 27, 2000 acquisition
of Micro Med, Inc., the contract manufacturing division of Disetronic
Medical Systems. The transition included the formal closing of Micro Med
facilities in Portsmouth, N.H.,
the relocation of manufacturing capabilities to a newly added
5,000-square-foot Class 10,000 cleanroom at Command's Ormond Beach facility, and the
appointment of Joyce (McDougall) Vytlacil as operations manager of
Command's new Micro Med Division.
"In order to
maintain our high level of service and product quality to our customers,
the transition plan we put together left little room for error or
delay," stated David Slick, Sr., president of Command Medical
Products. "I'm very pleased with the outstanding job everyone has done
to help us successfully execute the plan."
A critical component of
the transition plan was the addition of a new 5,000-square foot Class
10,000 cleanroom to accommodate Micro Med's manufacturing requirements in
time for the Portsmouth
plant closure on January 26. The necessary addition was made to Command's
facility in just 45 days, which was no easy feat, according to Slick.
"Everything has
gone remarkably well thus far," said Slick. "And we are fortunate
to have Joyce Vytlacil with us to help make sure the full transition
continues to move according to plan."
As the operations
manager of Command's Micro Med Division, Vytlacil will utilize her
extensive experience in Huber needle winged infusion set manufacturing,
sterilization and overall plant management to further insure a smooth
transition. Vytlacil worked with Micro Med for more than 12 years, where
she most recently served as general manager. Prior to joining Micro Med,
she worked in various positions with Sims Portex and was the disposables
manager of the Auto Syringe Division of Baxter Healthcare Corporation.
